Cenicafé Journal is an international, peer-reviewed, open Access journal and financed since November 1949 by the National Center for Coffee Research (Cenicafé). Its main objective is to disseminate, among the international scientific community and the Extension Service of the Federation of Coffee Growers, research results on coffee cultivation.

Initially, this publication began under the name Boletín Informativo (“organ of the Library of the National Coffee Research Center”) in July 1949, under the direction of Dr. Bernardo González Casas, with the purpose of disseminating the scientific work carried out by the center. These results mainly focused on topics such as soil conservation, fertility, soil physics, climate, and coffee diseases and pests.

In 1956, under the direction of Dr. Hernán Uribe Arango, the Boletín Informativo was renamed Revista Cenicafé. In January 1957, after compiling indexes of the previous issues and making design modifications, Volume VII of the journal was published.

Around 1975, with the edition of Volume 26, the first full-color photograph appeared, and scientific articles began to include an abstract in English. Undoubtedly, after 71 years, Revista Cenicafé remains strong, presenting research results obtained by the National Federation of Coffee Growers in the ongoing process of developing scientific and technological research.

Currently, contributions submitted to the journal must be original and unpublished, and they must not be simultaneously submitted to other journals. Articles are peer-reviewed by both internal and external experts.

The journal is open access and non-commercial, meaning it does not charge fees for the submission or publication of articles, either in print or digital versions. It is intended for the scientific community, the Extension Service of the National Federation of Coffee Growers, and the agricultural sector.
