Summary

Weed flora grows spontaneously in productive systems, it is essential in agroecosystems and a fundamental basis for sustainability and biodiversity. A key aspect for the integral management of weeds is their identification and classification according to the degree of interference with the crop. This scientific seminar shows the results of the update of weeds recognition in coffee plantations; a record of 265 species of weeds and 58 families was obtained, the most predominant were Poaceae (Gramineae) (15.1%), Asteraceae (Compositae) (14.7%), Cyperaceae (6.0%), Fabaceae (Leguminosae) (6.0%), Lamiaceae (Labiatae) (3.8%), Euphorbiaceae ( 3.0%), Rubiaceae (3.0%), Solanaceae (3.0%). The following degrees of interference of the weeds with the coffee cultivation were recorded: 40% of medium interference, 33.6% of high interference, and 9.4% of low interference; also, 17% was classified as noble weeds, which are highly relevant in protecting the soil against erosion. Additionally, 45 species of noble weeds distributed in 22 families were registered, mainly: Commelinaceae (11%), Fabaceae (9%) and Urticaceae, Poaceae, Oxalidaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Asteraceae, and Araliaceae each with 6.7%. Based on this research activity, an APP tool was develop to facilitate the recognition in field of the most important weeds in coffee cultivation.
