Summary

The use of social network analysis and visualization to model the performance of knowledge generation, dissemination and use functions of agricultural innovation systems is not a common practice within science. This presentation addresses the visualization model of co-occurrence networks to analyze knowledge flows, new research research topics, and scientific collaboration with a technological vision focused on coffee as a product. This case study shows the results of the collaboration networks and the thematic evolution of the articles from Cenicafé, the most important coffee research center in Colombia. The results indicate little diversity of co-authorship networks; 96% of collaboration links are centered in national and supranational universities and there is no evidence of collaboration links with companies. The results of the study of the subjects evolution show a tradition in subjects on the Arabica variety centered in problems of the plant. There is a transition towards genetic problems, ecosystem services, agroforestry systems, and the quality of coffee beverages. Future analyses will be able to address knowledge flows among organizations globally.
