An alternative to mitigate the effect of El Niño is the production of resistant varieties, for which it is necessary to evaluate coffee germplasm for drought tolerance. With this objective, 21 Ethiopian introductions and 11 commercial genotypes of the Colombian coffee collection were planted in greenhouses with two levels for water The following variables were measured: plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, stomatal resistance, root length, root and aerial dry weight, total biomass and water use efficiency. It can be concluded that the introductions E.480, ET.56 and E.177 are promising as parents for the development of a water deficit tolerant variety.
